Went on a Friday evening and had tried the chef’s tasting menu. I enjoyed the salad and the fried roll. The chicken wing was bland but used a sauce to add some flavor. Then followed 2 separate dishes of more veggies which were alright but felt a bit excessive. Lastly followed the little neck clams and a pork dish which were pretty good. For dessert we were given the ube Sunday which was my favorite part of the meal. There isn’t much ambience but the music was good. The servers were unusually casually dressed (tank top w/ sweatpants and baggy t shirt with shorts), but were quite friendly and the food came out relatively quickly. We brought our own bottle of wine (they are BYOB) and they opened it for us and put it in an ice bucket which was nice (no corkage fee). As soon as we were done we were told twice by different staff that they need us to leave for the next guest which felt a bit excessive. Overall I do recommend a visit.

Tabachoy is a quaint spot, with charming staff and delicious food. We loved the starter sample, and the pork sisig was incredible! Definitely spring for the garlic rice. The cauliflower dish was interesting - more like a cold coconut yogurt with cauliflower and almonds? I probably wouldn’t order it again but everything else was so yummy. We got the banana spring rolls for dessert but I want to try the pandan cheesecake next time!

Tried this small quaint Filipino restaurant with excellent service. I ordered a few Filipino favorites, but to me, a few dishes weren’t as flavorful. The garlic rice was too garlicky for my tastebuds. Pork Sisig and Broccoli Rabe was good. Lumpia was ok. Bistek was a bit salty. Hope to see some other menu dishes in the future.

The best part of the meal—-Ube Sundae! OMG, definitely a must try.
Make reservations as this place gets crowded.

I am not Filipino nor did I grow up eating these dishes but to me they were excellent. The sisig especially. Ube ice cream didn’t have a very rich ube flavor which I would’ve liked better but overall a fantastic meal.

I grew up with parents who are from the Philippines and also lived there for part of my childhood. Tabachoy does modern Filipino food so well. We ordered a tuna kilawin special and some home favorites in small sizes in order to be able to try it all: adobo, sisig, fried tofu, and clams. My partner kept raving that the adobo tasted like mine. We also ordered the ube sundae and pandan cheesecake for dessert, which you shouldn't miss if you have the room.

Always super excited to try different takes on Filipino dishes and flavors!

Got the tasting menu which came with the app sampler, both sides, two mains and dessert. This is cheaper than getting all of these items individually and portioned well for a single meal. However, if you want to try everything AND leave with food, order a la carte!

Our favorite of the app sampler were the wings. Super juicy and even better with whatever the herbal green sauce was. The lumpia tasted like my grandmas, but our filling slipped out of the wrappers as we bit them. Appreciated the house-made sweet chili sauce. I was most excited for the Tabachou Caesar. Loved the punchiness from the citrus and the funk from the bagoong, but I think it was over dressed for us. Also loved the fried shallot or garlic and the herbs!

For the sides, I liked the Philly laing but I felt like it was missing something? Maybe we could have the option to add bagoong. The adobong haricot verts were too salty for us.

The standout of the meal was the ginataang cauliflower. I wasn’t expecting it to be cold and at first I was searching for the cauliflower until I realized it was blitzed LOL. Liked the crispy Maitake on top for texture. Ended up being my fave. I would even love it as a dip for an app. I hope this is on the menu every time I’m in Philly. The other main we got was the sisig. I liked the flavor of it, but it lacked texture for me. There wasn’t any ear or crispy skin and there was a lot of mayo. It was more smooth and fatty and rich than I prefer. I would appreciate some kind of texture, more chili, and more citrus.

For dessert, we got the ube sundae and the pandan cheesecake. I’m a huge fan of pandan and not that big on ube so I was surprised that I preferred the ube over the pandan. The ube sundae was ube soft serve with crisped rice and turon (banana spring rolls). Love the hot + cold combo. I wanted to like the pandan cheesecake, but it was granular/not smooth, and I think the pandan balance was off or something because it left an astringent after taste that I didn’t enjoy. I like that it was wrapped in banana leaf for that nostalgic Filipino dessert aroma and flavor.

Service was friendly and quick. No problems there! There was however, a light that flickered throughout our time dining that I found super distracting. Not a big deal though.

While I will always have something to say, this was a positive experience and I think this is a good intro to anyone wanting to try Filipino food! I am excited to return to try the rest of the menu!

One of the best meals I’ve had in a while! The appetizer sampler is a great bang for your buck, the Caesar is unreal!!! Garlic fried rice is also simple and delish. I have to come back to try the entrees but all the tables around me looked tasty. The turon are heavenly as is the ube soft serve. Such a fun little place with friendly staff and incredible food!! 10/10 playlist also!

Did the tasting menu and everything was fabulous! They made excellent accommodations for a vegetarian preference. It was exactly what we wanted for our anniversary dinner! We were lucky to get seated without a reservation, so next time we will definitely make one in advance.
